Kennel Technician
As a Kennel Technician, my responsibilities are taking good care of dogs that board at our hospital. I clean kennels, I give food and water to the animals, give baths and preps(trim nails, clean ears, and express anal glands), walk, and play with the dogs and cats. We are not a daycare so we keep a good distance between the dogs during walks, and we do individual playtime. I also have to discuss the boarders with the clients face to face or on the phone.

Veterinary Assistant
As a Vet Assistant, my responsibilities are cleaning exam rooms and cages in treatment. I also have learned how to restrain cats and dogs, and I will go in to appointments with the hospital doctors. Alongside the Technicians I help take radiographs, hold for drawing blood, restrain for IV catheter placement and removal, stain ear smears and cytologies, restrain for ultrasounds and regular nail trims and ear cleaning and anal gland expression. I have learned how to run heart worm tests on our SNAPPro Analyzer and do in house blood tests on our IDEXX Catalyst One Chemistry Analyzer and IDEXX ProCyte Dx Hematology Analyzer, as well as in house urinalysis on our IDEXX SediVue Dx Urine Sediment Analyzer.
