Job Type: Full-timeSalary Range: $20.00 – $24.00 per hour (with commission), full benefits package available after 90 days

Overview:Horse Heaven Hills Pet Urgent Care and Veterinary Center is seeking a motivated and skilled Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our urgent care team. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional client communication skills, a strong work ethic, and a passion for providing high-quality patient care. Essential Duties:

– Competently perform laboratory procedures, including manual differentials.

– Take proper radiographs of patients using correct technique, ensuring personal safety.

– Collect and record pertinent patient information necessary for optimal care.

– Observe and triage patients to detect signs of illness, disease, or injury.

– Calculate drug doses, including CRI’s, drip rates, and create anesthetic plans.

– Provide treatment and/or medication to sick or injured patients under direct supervision.

– Answer phones, provide information, and perform patient call backs.

– Properly enter treatments in the medical record system.

– Generate proposed treatment plans for clients and effectively go over them.

– Perform patient discharges and client post-operative/procedure counseling appointments.

– Provide updates to owners regarding their surgical or hospitalized patients.- Assist in training and mentoring Veterinary and Hospital Assistants.

– Complete Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) RECOVER certification every 2 years.

Skills:

– Perform advanced diagnostics such as IO catheters, central lines, and pediatric catheter placement.

– Act as shift lead, ensuring optimal patient care and case delegation.

– Assist in training and mentoring Veterinary and Hospital Assistants.

– Complete special projects or duties as needed.

Requirements:

– High school diploma or equivalent.

– 2 or 4-year degree from an approved AVMA veterinary technology school.

– Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an LVT in Washington State.

– Veterinary Technician registration, certification, or license issued by the Washington State Board of Veterinary Examiners; current and in good standing.

– Completion of a minimum of 20 hours of continuing education every two years.

Additional Requirements:

– Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

– Exposure to moderate noise levels.

– Bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, and pulling are frequently required.

– Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data.

– Occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and radiation.
