Job Description

Piney Creek Square Integrative Veterinary Medicine has a great opportunity for a veterinary assistant that is looking to provide excellent patient care in a unique practice setting. We are an integrative clinic that provides holistic/alternative care as a complement to our conventional medical training. We believe in delivering remarkable veterinary medical care with exceptional customer service. You’ll be responsible for the preparation of daily appointments, dental procedures, laboratory diagnostics, anesthesia, surgery, and facilitating our veterinarians and veterinary technicians with patient appointments and follow up. We’re looking for assistants who enjoy serving clients, helping patients and those who are interested in expanding their knowledge base to offer the best patient care.


Main Job Duties

    • Ensuring treatment areas, examination rooms, cages, and the clinic premises are clean and organized.
    • Sterilizing equipment.
    • Ensuring clients and pets are comfortable in the waiting area.
    • Providing empathetic care for hospitalized patients, and keeping patients and their cages clean.
    • Restraining patients appropriately and safely where required. This includes the occasional irritable, angry patient.
    • Assisting with administering medication, drawing blood, and cleaning patients’ teeth.
    • Performing diagnostic imaging and laboratory tests.
    • Collaborate with veterinarians and veterinary technicians to ensure continuity of patient care.
    • Complying with hospital policies and procedures.
    • Computer skills to maintain medical records in veterinary software.

Job Requirements

    • High school diploma, GED, and/or NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant certification.
    • Affinity for animals.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Strong people skills.
    • Outstanding organizational skills.
    • Physically strong and dexterous, and ability to stand for extended periods.
    • Available to care for clinic cats as needed.
