Back in 1999, at the ages of 14 (Steve) and 12 (Jason) we started our first pet care business, K-9 Guardians Professional Pet Sitting, out of our love for dogs. At that time, we never planned on pursuing pet care as our careers, we just welcomed the idea to care for pets and earn a few extra bucks at such young ages. Everything changed in the fall of 2002 when Steven flew to Nashville, Tennessee in order to attend an international conference and convention for professional pet sitters. It was at this convention and by witnessing how successful other pet care professionals had become, that our dream to open a luxury hotel for dogs was born. We spent many years researching and travelling all over the United States in order to research and later develop the finest pet care facility.

In 2005, we purchased a commercial building in Fanwood, NJ and had it custom engineered and constructed to be one of the finest pet care facilities in the nation. Due to the unparalleled level of service offered, K9 Resorts was an immediate success and became the only facility in New Jersey that is rated # 1 by multiple major publications! This is something we are enormously proud of.

In 2010, we decided we wanted to provide other pet lovers with the opportunity to own their own business by sharing the knowledge and expertise we had learned. We determined that franchising was the best way for us to grow our company and provide others the opportunity to own their own business. After conducting our due diligence, we retained the services of SMB Franchise Advisors, one of the top franchise consulting firms in the country, to assist us in this venture. K9 Resorts officially became a franchise company in January 2011, and we sold our first franchise to one of our long-time customers only two months later.

By 2015, K9 Resorts had earned national recognition as a world class pet care facility and had become the #1 rated pet care facility in the nation. Due to this overwhelming success, we desperately needed a larger facility. In June of 2015, we purchased the property directly next door to our original Fanwood facility and we completely rebuilt our Flagship facility, more than doubling the size of our original facility.

As of today, we have over 75 locations either open or in development. We are very excited to be able to expand our brand nationwide.
