Job Description

Abbe Hills Animal Hospital is a small but busy one doctor Mixed Animal practice ( 70% Small Animal/ 30 % Equine and Small Ruminant) located in beautiful rural Larkspur. The right candidate will be compassionate, have great communication skills, and enjoy interacting with  and educating our wonderful clients. They will have excellent technician skills, are proficient on the computer, willing to learn new skills and new ways of doing things. They will be team- oriented, willing to help out wherever needed and also have the initiative to start and complete tasks on their own.

Job responsibilities include (but not limited to):

– accurately calculating drug dosages and and administering SQ, IM, IV injections                                           -placing IV catheters, inducing anesthesia, monitoring patients during and after anesthesia                            – drawing blood and performing lab work                                                                                                                    -maintenance and upkeep on lab, dental and surgical equipment/instruments                                                  – performing dental prophylaxis and taking dental radiographs                                                                               – gentle patient restraint  for exams and treatments                                                                                                    – taking radiographs                                                                                                                                                          – prepping patients for surgery                                                                                                                                        -maintaining accurate, detailed medical and dental records                                                                                     – ordering , receiving and maintaining inventory                                                                                                        – receptionist tasks throughout the day (we all share) – phone calls, scheduling, invoicing                                – maintaining inventory and cleaning  vet truck for farm calls                                                                                  – accurately filling prescriptions                                                                                                                                       – able to lift/carry 50 lbs
