Job Description

Tender Touch Animal Hospital, located within walking distance of the Art District on Santa Fe, is looking for a Veterinary Technician to support our mission to provide a welcoming, safe and healing environment for animals, clients and staff. Position Overview

As a veterinary technician, your responsibility is to support the doctors and other team members in providing high quality medicine in a friendly and efficient manner that ensures excellent service to our clients and patients. You will report directly to the Hospital Manger (HM), with accountability to the Managing DMV (MDVM). Your work will directly support the HM – MDVM partnership in support of hospital goals.

Responsibilities

A veterinary technician is responsible for the following. Duties not listed here may be assigned as needed.

Client Service:

  • Check clients in and out for appointments, surgeries, and procedures
  • Foster an educational experience for the client
  • Provide exemplary communication and customer service
  • Explain discharge instructions to clients after appointments, surgeries, and procedures
  • Conduct follow up correspondence

Technical Service:

  • Partner with DVMs in patient assessment, treatments, and procedures.
  • Inducting, monitoring and recovering assigned anesthetic procedures
  • Assist with ultrasounds
  • Perform dental prophylaxis and digital radiology
  • Provide necessary care and treatments for hospitalized patients
  • Prepare testing for in-house or referral laboratory properly
  • Perform venipuncture and IV catheter placement
  • Produce digital radiographs
  • Verify and fill patient prescriptions
  • Provide cleaning and maintenance for medical equipment
  • Preparation of surgical packs
  • Admit and discharge patients, day admissions
  • Technician appointments

Clerical / Client Service:

  • Maintain accurate medical records
  • Answer and direct multiple phone lines
  • Respond to email in a professional, timely manner (MS Office)
  • Prepare and process scans, and referral reports
  • Learn, use, and improve estimates, fee schedules, and other operational documents
  • Ensure cleanliness of exam rooms, surgical areas, and treatment areas
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Professional Experience / Skills

  • 2+ years of technician experience preferred
  • Certification preferred but not required.
  • Comfortable with anesthesia monitoring and dental prophylaxis
  • Consistent phlebotomy skills
  • Comfortable with computers and other technology
  • Experience with AVImark software is beneficial

  • Dependable attendance
  • Allergies to animals must be controllable through medication
  • Moves equipment weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Must be willing to work Saturday mornings and until all patients have been discharged
  • Potentially subject to high noise levels, bites and scratches, and hazardous chemicals

Compensation

  • Tender Touch offers a competitive hourly pay and benefits package for full time employees. Benefits are available after 60 days.
  • Salary Range: $18 – $23 an hour depending on credentials.

Job Types: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 – $23.00 per hour, plus $500 sign on bonus pending completion of 90-day probationary period.
