We are looking for:

Surgery Veterinary Technician (RVT/LVT)

Our Surgery team work in a fast-paced environment, perfect for technicians that are looking for training in multiple facets of surgery and interaction with the other teams in the hospital. Surgery team members require strong communication skills to liaison between surgeons and clients and deliver post-operative care instructions. The Surgery Veterinary Technician supports the surgeons by having on-call emergency surgery responsibilities once fully trained.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage appointments, obtain patient histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, patient discharges, etc.
  • Fill medications, enter charges and maintain accurate medical records, schedule appointments
  • Create patient releases, navigate client conversations around treatment plans and discuss financial obligations
  • Prep patients for surgery, including shaving, scrubbing and positioning, assist with intubation and radiographs
  • Proficiently perform blood draws and submit bloodwork
  • Ensure documentation is accurate and complete
  • Opening, turning over and cleaning operating rooms, as well as cleaning instruments and wrapping packs
  • Assist in patient procedures using knowledge of anesthesia and analgesia related protocols and procedures, including formulating anesthetic plans tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Intravenous catheter placement, endotracheal intubation and anesthetic equipment use and maintenance
  • Inspire, teach, multitask and be a highly functional team member
  • Maintain a clean hospital, surgical/prep room maintenance and complete laundry
  • Submit samples/ paperwork for outside laboratories

Who you are:

  • State Registered Veterinary Technician license required
  • Prior veterinary experience required, previous surgery experience desired
  • Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
  • Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain a strong professional appearance on the floor and in client-facing situations
